SENIORS - Class of 2017
  • Narrow down your list of college choices
  • Update your high school activity record. This includes all extracurricular activities, athletics, community service, missions, etc. that you have completed during high school.
  • Attend local College Fairs, both Christian and UC/CSU. (dates TBA in Eagle Press)
  • Apply to colleges in the fall. UC and CSU deadline is November 30. Check private and out-of-state college website for individual deadlines.
  • You can continue taking the SAT and ACT exam through December for UC and CSU institutions. Private colleges set their own deadlines so contact them directly. Make sure to note that you have an upcoming exam on your application.
  • Request official transcripts from the Academic Advisor and letters of recommendation from your teachers, giving at least 2 weeks notice.
  • Complete and submit a FAFSA between January 1 and March 2.  Attend a local Cash for College Workshop. (Dates and locations TBA)
JUNIORS - Class of 2018
  • Start to plan future goals
  • Attend  Class of 2016 “College Night” (date TBA in Eagle Press)
  • Check out colleges by looking through brochures, writing for information, attending College Fairs, attending sessions with visiting Admissions Counselors.
  • Take the PSAT in October. Review results. Sign up for My College Quickstart with College Board.
  • Begin taking both the SAT and/or the ACT. It is suggested that you take each exam, consult the SAT/ACT concordance to determine if you score better on one exam over the other and if so, focus on improving that score alone. SAT subject test is required for some colleges with competitive majors in order to demonstrate subject proficiency.

  • Keep in mind that college look for challenging coursework, a strong GPA and the sccores you earn on your college entrance exam (SAT or ACT).
