Dress Code Policy Highlights

All clothing will be of the appropriate size, clean and neat,
containing no holes or graffiti. It is
suggested that clothing be purchased from Dennis Uniforms (www.dennisuniform.com,
school code UJECHS) but not required. Dennis
Uniforms will have a store open on campus on a designated day during the
summer. Purchases made at other retail outlets must match the color
and style of those designated at Dennis Uniforms. If an item of clothing or hair length is
questionable, then it is not approved.
The accepted materials are:
cotton twill or cotton/poly blend.
Navy or khaki slacks or shorts
(cotton twill; no cargo pants; uniform-style)
Worn at the waist, not sagged;
shorts no longer than the knee or shorter than mid-thigh
White, navy, hunter green or burgundy plain polo shirts
(long or short sleeve)
May be
untucked if no longer than slightly below the belt line
White or light blue dress shirts with button down
collars (long or short sleeve). Always tucked.
T-shirts or turtlenecks may be worn under polos and must be
white, navy, hunter green or burgundy. They may not be longer than the
polo shirt or must be tucked in.
Tops
must cover tummy area even when arms are raised and must be loose enough to
fall back into place when arms are raised and lowered.
Skirt options:
If shorter than mid-calf skirt - navy pleated or JECHS plaid from
Dennis Uniforms
Long (below
mid-calf) skirts must be navy blue or khaki – cotton twill/ploy blend
If the
skirt has a walking slit, the slit can be no higher than 1” above the knee
Shoes must be low-heeled. Laces must be tied. No sandals, flip-flops, open toes.
Outerwear – plain sweatshirts,
pullover/zip, and plain sweaters, pullover/zip, in solid colors of JECHS
or any JECHS sweatshirt may be worn over uniform shirt. Tops must cover tummy area even when arms are raised and must be loose
enough to fall back into place when arms are raised and lowered.
Coats may make reference to sports teams or major
brands but must be within good taste for a Christian student.
Belts, shoes and socks must be worn.
No hats, visors or headbands are allowed on campus, except
for warmth in the winter and must be removed upon entering any building.
Jewelry – No occult or extreme jewelry, body piercing or
tattoos. No pocket chains, neck or wrist
chains other than standard jewelry. No
earrings for boys. Girls may have
pierced ears but earrings must not be of extreme length or size.
CHAPEL DAYS – no separate dress code for Chapel days, except
no shorts.
HAIR FOR BOYS – No longer in the front than when combed down
reaches the eyebrows, should never be longer than the bottom of the ear on the
sides and should not be longer than the bottom of the collar in the back.
